Comment on On track plant re RS1091 about it possibly being scrapped in 2010. Was on SVR http://www.ontrackplant.com/comments As a follow on to this I checked through the data files on this site and could not see this crane listed in either Extant cranes or in Cranes with CEPS numbers. Was it listed under another number? |

Yes, RS1091/30 was scrapped by the SVR in 2010. So far as I'm concerned, this was the only BDC scrapped for good reason in recent times. It was in poor condition and has rendered spares to maintain the SVR's other 30-tonner, RS1087/30, in serviceable order. Incidentally, the scrapping of RS1091/30 was announced some time ago on the BDCA website, about halfway down the page at http://bdca.org.uk/steamreplaced.html. So on this occasion we were ahead of the excellent Ontrackplant! I'm not aware of this crane ever carrying a number other than RS1091/30. Reference to it was removed from the Extant Cranes list when it was scrapped, and it didn't appear on the CEPS list because none of the 30-tonners were given CEPS numbers (possibly because they were not ideally suited to breakdown work and were destined for scrapping at the time of the issue of the CEPS numbers). (off topic) Bryan, I've just viewed via the Nat Pres forum the pictures of your renovated snowplough. It's superb! |
