Dare I say just like days of old and no Knitting to get in the way, busy day for Breakdown & Recovery teams with a road/rail vehicle attending a minor derailment at Ellsmere Port also on MerseyRail metals.

Crane, stencilled Bescot, ( assumed to be 96715. ) and support coaches seen at Shortlands 1140 on Monday 27th.
Whether they used it or not I know not - crane often stands by whilst they use the jacks and if they're successful - no need for crane to be set up.

I am reminded ( as far as the beasts are concerned ) of the old kentish ditty
"""'Why kill-em and cart-em to Canterbury?""""

As an addition to the rerailing.
The damaged unit had the affected wheelsets placed on skates.
The whole 8 coach train was then taken to Canterbury West by a class 66 loco
The train was then taken away by Heritage Loco? A Thumper DEMU 1001 back to Ramsgate depot.
You can see the skates on the attached youtube link.

The quarter mile of track damaged by the derailment has had to be relaid.
