There is a 30-min programme titled "Steam into Summer" viewable on the BBC's Steam Archive film website which was filmed at the DVLR in 1979 and which includes some footage of the ex-GWR No 2 steam breakdown crane working during an open day at Buckfastleigh.

The crane footage is approx 13.33 mins into the programme.

This link should go straight to the film:-

One comment made during the programme, which was no doubt true at the time but which is now laughable, is that you can buy a "Hall" for about £4,000 and restore it for a further £20,0000! How times have changed!

Somewhat sadly, it appears this footage is only visible from the UK - at least on this side of the world I get a 'Not available in your area" error message. What ever happened to BBC World Service :-(

Phil.

Phil, now you mention it I remember that the BBC online archinve is limited to the UK, although I am not sure why. Sorry that your hopes have been dashed.

It seems that there are ways to do it, though possibly not straightforward. This article seems helpful:-
