The 1949 Ealing Studios classic "Train of Events" includes a fleeting shot of Willesden's 50-ton Craven crane RS1015/50 in steam at (presumably) Willesden MPD, approx 3 minutes into the film.

Supplied new to the LMS as 36-ton crane MP9 in 1931 and uprated to a 50-tonner in 1938, this is one of the cranes used at Harrow & Wealdstone in 1952. Later it became ADRV95206 and after withdrawal in 1982 it was sold to the Bahamas Locomotive Society and happily is now preserved at the K&WVR.

TDM1015/50 can be seen here at Allerton in 1976 - http://pics-by-john.photoblog.org.uk/p65001063.html

I watched this film again the other day when it was screened on the "Talking Pictures" channel. Not noted in my earlier post is a scene which takes place with the backdrop of Wellingborough's RS1067/30, the first of the LMS 30-tonners from R&R in 1942. This takes place around the 1 hour mark into the film.

I also noticed that the "Jinty" which appears at around the same point carries what I believe to be an unusual livery - at first sight it appears unlined black with the "BRITISH RAILWAYS" branding (as you would expect for a film made in 1949) but in a couple of later shots it looks as though there is a single band of lining on the tanks and bunker. I don't think I have seen this before. Perhaps it was a Wellingborough Pilot with a special livery? The loco in question is 47327 which is preserved.

If anyone is interested, there is a rather effectove AI_colourised version of the film available here: https://archive.org/details/train-of-ev ... ie-720p-hd
