That is a good find, what an intersting clip. Fascinating to see the diversity of traffic passing through.

6911 "Holker Hall" is certanily a very tight fit on the turntable, and I assume it must have rolled back slightly while being turned. I am less about the reason why the B1 (?) was brought to the front of it during recovery; I assume that this was just to act as a stop block in case the Hall rolled too far forward (any suggestions from those here who worked on BD crews?)

Thanks for posting!

I think the crane is probably New England's 330110 (now at Crewe in a rather different form as ADRC96719 after gaining an articulated jib and coversion to DH operation).

The only other contender is Cambridge's 330133, but since New England is nearer to Nottingham that Cambridge I feel the former is more likely.

A comment I saw about the crane was that it was from Colwich.
However I know nothing so just passing on the detail I have heard.

For Roger to be caught wrong-footing is a rare event but .....

Viewing the nose of the jib, there appears to be a spindle and sheave for an auxiliary hoist, this being a feature of Colwick's 36-tonner ADRC95223 (now at Peak Rail) but not of the Cambridge or New England 45-tonners.

Immingham's 36-ton crane 330103 was of similar construction to the Colwick crane, including an auxiliary hoist, but the latter was based very much nearer to Nottingham of course. So as you say, Bryan, it was almost certainly the Colwick crane.

Well done chaps, you spotted my deliberate mistake!

Only kidding! I made the mistake of jumping to a conclusion, never a good idea. I had for some reason forgotten about Colwick, which is by far more logical and would have been the logical first depot to check.

When Colwick closed in1970 the crane moved across Nottingham to Toton and is seen there in 1975. http://pics-by-john.photoblog.org.uk/p52860339.html
