The 110 Tonne capacity Cowans Boyd diesel hydraulic breakdown crane built for New South Wales Railways Freight Rail divsion in 1995 and written off after a lifting mishap in 2007 has been bought for preservation by the Dorrigo Steam Railway & Museum.

Thanks for the links, Jeff. Interesting story.

I have found a couple more photos, which clearly show the destroyed cab, here:

Amazingly the crane driver, though apparently serious injured and trapped in the cab for some 80 minutes, survived. The crane apparently overturned when loading the third and last removable ballast weight which it had been carrying back onto the "buddy wagon" while packing up. Outriggers were not deployed at the time.

These were taken during the "storage" years after recovery and although there are some intersting things to note (such as the displaced main rams) it doesn't look too badly damaged.

The Dorrigo museum already has a 120-ton crane amongst others, and it wouldn't surprise me to see this one back up and running one day.
