3503 - Cowans Sheldon 35-ton Crane in India
Cowans Sheldon 35-ton metre-gauge crane in India, number 3503. Built 1945, pictured in 1984.
This is most likely the Guntakal crane (Southern Railway) with CS number either 8548, 8549, 8551 or 8552. The runner would typically be by Hurst Nelson, Motherwell.
This class of crane disappeared relatively early in favour of the dozen or so relieving-bogie 35-tonners that CS delivered in the mid 1950s and later the three dozen or so 6+6 wheelers that Izatnagar built in the 1970s
