Inchicore 35-ton breakdown crane at Dublin, 1971

Sitting in one of the former City of Dublin Junction Railway platforms, Metropolitan Vickers-built Co-Co locomotive No. A1r has arrived with the Inchicore steam crane to attend a derailment at Connolly.

The crane is CIE No. 295A; Cowans Sheldon No. 9233. Built in 1946, capacity 35 tons.

    No, it is not an ex-BR 30-ton crane. This has a riveted jib, whereas the BR ones were welded.
