CS 45-ton crane 8056/1943 in Budapest, Hungary (1)

Date: 22nd July 2000.

Martin reports:
This standard gauge, ex-WD, crane is preserved at the Budapest History Park Railway Museum. The MAV (Hungarian Railways) running number was LD 223. I noted that its axlebox covers were marked 'LNER'.

I visited the museum the first day it opened to the public. It took me two full days just walking around taking photos; the site is absolutely massive. In its day it had two roundhouses of 24 roads each and two "through" sheds.
