MP21 / RS1020/30 Album

Cowans Sheldon 25/30 ton crane built for the LNWR in c1908. Numbered by the LMS as MP21 and subsequently as RS1020/25. Number updated to RS1020/30 upon its lifting capacity being formally recognised as 30 tons. Entered the National Collection directly on withdrawal by BR in 1969.

Donated to the Churnet Valley Railway by the National Railway Museum in c.1998, with conditions. Sold by the CVR for scrap in April 2011 but saved at the 11th hour and moved to Crewe Heritage Centre. Subsequently resold in 2020 to the Hamilton Davies Trust and moved to the Lancashire Mining Museum at Astley Green, Manchester.
