95206 - Hook Stowing Gear
When closing down the crane, the jib would be lowered towards the bolster and held suspended a short distance above it. The hook would then be fastened to the end of a wire cable and winched in by turning the shaft that can be seen.
Some cranes for other railways had a much simpler method of stowing the hook. The floor of the runner slopes down towards the hook storage position and rollers set across the floor let the hook slide down without effort.
