95215 at the Bluebell's Northern Extension opening ceremony, 13.3.1988
The crane took part in the ceremony before tracklaying commenced in earnest. Secretary of State for Transport, the hon. Paul Channon MP, was the VIP guest and was at the controls for laying the first track panel (with just one end being lowered as a token operation). The crane gang members are lined up, apart from one in the cab and one directing the crane.
The ceremony took place 30 years after the last BR train ran on the line, and it is planned to complete the extension in March 2013, some 55 years since BR last train ran here.
