Derailment at Dent Head - July 1998
These pictures show the derailment scene from the air, taken by Trevor Horner and forwarded to the Gallery by BDCA member Gordon Allen.
Pictures of the 75-ton crane attending the derailment are in the ADRC96709 Album to be found in the Cowans Sheldon section of the Gallery.
Gordon is the Track Maintenance Engineer for Network Rail, based at Appleby and looking after the Settle-Carlisle and Cumbrian Coast lines. At the time of the Dent Head incident, Trevor was the Assistant Chief Civil Engineer (East) for Jarvis Rail. He arrived at the site in a helicopter, hence the aerial photographs.
We are very grateful to Trevor for permission to use the photographs, and to Gordon for forwarding them to us.
