It's good to see that the website lives on.
Many thanks to the back room staff for keeping it going.

Agree wholeheartedly. It is very good to see the site back in operation. Both the administrators deserve our thanks.

Thank you for your kind words, gents, they are appreciated.

The only real measure of worth for the BDCA website and forum which we as the admin team (all two of us) get to see is in the forum activity. There are visitor figures for the site itself, but there is nothing to indicate if they were accidental or intentional, human or "bot", or benevolent or malicious visitors so really don't mean anything.

What does give us a warm fuzzy feeling of usefulness and self-worth is seeing forum activity, and as the people who make our efforts worthwhile the best reward you can give us is to keep the forum active and buzzing with interesting breakdown crane related discussions!

So please, keep on posting.

For those who are interested we still face a couple of significant challenges. Firstly the software that runs the forum needs a major update, and the fact that the technical guides use words like "major", "difficult", and "problems" is not particularly encouraging to those whose technical skills are more aligned with slewing rings than computers. Secondly, we need to "mend" the gallery, which used software so old it no longer runs at all. Converting the gallery from one package to another is again not a task which fills us with glee and I suspect will take a little while, but I can assure our readers, members and contributors that we have all the photos and all the comments from the old gallery, which suggests to me that resurrecting it in a new form is possible.

Please wish us luck with these tasks and if anyone knows a computer/web savvy person willing to donate their time to help and advise, put us in touch! We have to learn these skills as we go along and we "oldies" are not as quick at learning as we used to be!

In the meantime, keep posting, keep the forum active, and keep the spirit and purpose of the BDCA alive if you can.

My thanks to all,

Roger
